Player ImPACT Concussion Testing

ImPACT BASELINE CONCUSSION TESTING
Arizona High School Hockey in partnership with Banner University Sports Medicine and Concussion are working to make sure our High School Hockey players safely return to the ice after suffering a concussion.
Ice hockey is a finesse sport that requires a unique combination of speed, power, and teamwork. As a result, players are at risk for injury —some of them avoidable.
Please take a moment to view the video below regarding Concussion Awareness, Prevention and Treatment
The Bell Unrung: Concussion Awareness, Prevention and Treatment
Concussion Treatment and Management will include:
- Pre-injury baseline testing to assess balance, memory, concentration and vision prior to injury
- Computerized testing
- Post-injury baseline testing to assess balance, memory, concentration and vision
Visit the Banner Concussion Website for additional Information regarding their services.

ImPact Baseline Concussion Information
AHSHA requires that all players complete a baseline concussion test every other year in order to participate in the Regular Season.
AHSHA’s baseline concussion testing is being administered online through ImPACT™ Applications Inc., utilizing the ImPACT™ neurocognitive computer test.
All New and Returning Players who did not complete the Impact Baseline test in 2024 will be required to complete the ImPACT™ Baseline Concussion test by no later than July 31st. Failure to complete the ImPACT™ Baseline concussion test will result in the player not being able to participate in any AHSHA sanctioned practices, games, or events until it has been completed
The AHSHA Admin. will send out an email via AtHomeTest@impacttest.com to the first parent’s email address listed on the player’s profile.
If you are unsure whether your player needs to complete the concussion testing this year, please click the button below “Players that Need Concussion Testing”
Instructions for the ImPACT™ Baseline Concussion Testing:
- Please be sure to watch the short instructional video before beginning the test.
- Passport ID is not required to begin the testing.
- The test will be delivered via a secure web portal using a PC or MAC. A trackpad or an external mouse must be used for testing.
You can complete your ImPACT™ testing using an iPad as long as your iPad meets the following requirements:
- iPad must be iOS 8 or newer.
- iPad must have a screen size 9.7” or larger.(Cannot be used with iPad Minis, iPods, or iPhones)
- Impact Baseline Concussion tests cannot be used on Android devices.
***Players cannot workout, exercise or practice within 3 hours prior to taking the test as it will adversely affect the results of the test. ***
The test will take about 20-25 minutes to complete. Tests must reach the confirmation page to be saved. All results will be lost for any test that is interrupted or exited before reaching the confirmation page.
At the end of every ImPACT™ test, a confirmation page with a confirmation number and an ImPACT™ Passport ID will appear on the test taker’s screen. We recommended that test takers print, email, or copy the information for their records.
ImPACT™ also offers an ImPACT™ Passport® app which can be used to find a concussion care provider near you, and to safely store you ImPACT™ Passport ID.
In the event you receive an invalid ImPACT™ Baseline test it may be caused by a number of reasons:
- Failure to properly read directions;
- Attention deficit disorder/hyperactivity (ADD or ADHD) or other neurological disorders.
- Excessive fatigue (e.g. completion of testing after vigorous exercise)
- Left-right confusion in one of the test modules.
- “Sandbagging” or poor performance to attempt to set a low baseline standard.
- Attempt to perform better by taking a slower and more deliberate approach to the test.
- Attempt to increase the speed without regard for performance accuracy.
Please allow 48 hours before taking an ImPACT™ Baseline Test again. You can use the same link you have received in the email for another attempt.
If you get an invalid ImPACT™ Baseline Test twice, it is recommended you consult a concussion care provider because you may have a concussion or preexisting condition that’s making you fall outside of the expected range of scores.
***For Families with multiple players on the PLAYERS THAT NEED CONCUSSION TESTING you will receive one email for each player. It does not matter which link is used for which player.
If you are unable to locate the email please type " AtHomeTest@impacttest.com" into the search field of your email. Please be sure to check your spam folder.
Should you have any issues or questions, please feel free to Lauri Griebel, AHSHA Administrator.
